- I cannot live without Sally Hansen’s leg makeup.
- Why it is important to protect yourself from sun damage.
- Sally Hansen’s leg makeup looks very natural
Just another spiderfreaks.org weblog
With skin cancer on the rise it is important to take care of yourself. Using sunscreen is important and not getting too much sun exposure is too. I care for the sun and I tan really easily and rapidly. I am getting older though and I realize that it ages you and those cute tiny freckles are not really freckles. I like that it also helps hide some blemishes and discolored areas without looking like make-up. They are age spots from sun damage. I like most young people didn’t take it that seriously until I started seeing the pain to my skin.
My husband got skin cancer last year and I have a friend that had melanoma. If she hadn’t gone to the doctor for a different suspicious mole she would have died. My husband’s mole that I made him go for, was not cancerous but a wart that came up totally unexpectedly was cancer. It is not something to mess with. With the ozone layer being damaged taking care of your skin is even more famous.
Another thing that I love about Sally Hansen’s leg make up is I can spray a small on my arms and it looks very natural. Make distinct you shave your legs, (I wouldn’t let my husband shave his! Ha) I spray it on over the bathtub so it doesn’t get on the floor or carpet, or over a towel. It will stay on for quite a while and doesn’t come off with perspiration.
I like to have moisturizer on under it because it has a tendency to dry your skin. I lightly smooth it out with my hands so it is not to heavy.
My husband would never admit it but he uses it on his legs too. You would never believe that it is not a natural tan. The biggest problem for me is finding where to hide it from him.
What is a Mystic Tan?
The Mystic Tan is a spray-on tan that many tanning salons offer as an alternative to weak ultraviolet (UV) beds. Instead of lying down in a bed, tanners stand in a booth and tanning chemicals are sprayed onto their bodies.
The Mystic Tan was created in response to evidence that UV tanning increases the risk of skin cancer. Additionally, the Mystic Tan requires only one session, as opposed to the 5-10 required for obsolete UV tanning.
How Long Does The Tan Last?
The Mystic Tan lasts for approximately two weeks. I decided to get a Mystic Tan because I wanted to be tan for a particular event, so tan didn’t necessarily need to last long. The Mystic Tan is ideal for people who don’t have the time to go to a tanning both several times a week, but want to be tan for a particular occasion, such as a wedding, party, or summer outing. Another benefit of the Mystic Tan is that one session lasts less than a minute, as opposed to 5-20 for UV tanning.
How Much Does It Cost?
The Mystic Tan costs approximately $15-$25 per session, depending on the salon and the packages that they offer. The Mystic Tan is more expensive than mature tanning because fewer sessions are required to achieve a tan.
What To Expect
When you go for your Mystic Tan, you will lift off all of your clothing and enter a large booth– similar to a stall shower. You’ll shroud your hair with a shower cap to prevent the chemicals from touching your hair. The tanning salon staff should articulate you how to work the machine and should respond any questions you may have. You have the option of using bronzer, which will make the tan appear immediately. If you do not use bronzer, you will still rep a tan.
When you are ready, you press a button to inaugurate the machine. You then close your eyes and your mouth (holding your breath will help you avoid inhaling the fumes) and the spray starts a few seconds after you press the button.
If it’s your first time, the spray will startle you. It certainly startled me and gave me an incredible urge to urinate. Be prepared for this sensation.
Stand with your legs slightly apart and your arms away from your body. Stand for about 15 seconds while the front of your body is sprayed, and then turn around for the back of your body to be sprayed. The session is over in less than a minute. Your entire body will be wet when you get out of the stall. You can pat yourself dry with the towels they offer you, and this will not buy the tan.
The tan will develop within a few hours. You might not notice any immediate incompatibility in your skin color. Do not wear white or light colors on the day that you get the tan, as the chemicals could rub off on your clothing.
Better Or Worse Than UV Tanning?
In my opinion, the Mystic Tan is not a pleasant experience. The chemicals smell, it’s extremely uncomfortable, and it’s messy. I don’t reflect I would get a Mystic Tan again, unless I really wanted to be tan for a particular event without having to make repeated visits to the tanning bed. Despite the unpleasant experience in the booth, the resulting tan does look like a exact tan– at least it did for me. Depending on your skin coloring, the tan could have orange tones in it. It obviously will not look as natural as a staunch tan from the sun or a tan from a UV bed, but it can still gape very good. Once again, it all depends on your natural skin coloring.
I do not recommend the Mystic Tan for people who are extremely active in terms of exercise. I go running almost everyday, and sweating caused the tan to rub off. My tan lasted only a week as opposed to two weeks because I was sweating so great through exercise. Additionally, it makes a mess when your sweat has an orange hue.
Given the known risks associated with UV tanning, the Mystic Tan is certainly worth a try.
Sun worshipers are already laying out their towels and beach bunnies have begun to infiltrate the coastlines. In order to show off that big new swim suit, a girl’s got to have a decent tan, right? Good! The only problem with that theory is the risk of skin cancer. Since no one wants to gape pale and ghostly in their beach wear I’m offering you a ton of tips on the alternative, superior way to glow golden and bronzed without all those sun rays.
Self tanning has been around for a long, long time. Self tanning is the process of applying cream, lotion, or spray to the skin so that the results are a semi-permanent change in the color of the skin, thus the tan. Normally a self tan, or sunless tan other wise known as the deceptive bake or fake tan, lasts between 2 to 10 days depending on the type of product and method used. During the 1920’s Dihydroxyacetone, a chemical found in self tanning products, was found to turn the skin brown but the first sunless suntan cream wasn’t developed until the sixties by Coppertone. By the time the eighties rolled around people were slathering the lotions and creams on their bodies only to net that they had turned orange rather than brown.
I remember my first experience with a gloomy tanning lotion. Self tanners were easy to location in those days thanks to that awful Halloween pumpkin orange glow we emitted. Just recently several laws have been passed to limit the use of UV tanning beds and so once again Americans have fallen back on the old favorite, suntan creams. Times have changed and technology has advanced so that we no longer have the orange dilemma. There are more sunless tanning brands out there than you can shake a stick at and the techniques are as varied as the products themselves. There are lotions, creams, sprays; pills, air brushing and accelerators fair to mention a few. Whether you are spraying or smearing there are a few things you should know. Here are some great tips to getting the best canned tan on the beach.
1. Take a shower first. You can’t inquire to get a good even tan if your skin is coated in unimaginative cells, dust and grime, all of which we accumulate on a daily basis.
2. Prior to applying any sunless tanning product to your skin, refrain from shaving. The more sensitive your skin, the worst your results will be if you shave. Remember you are applying a chemical to your skin.
3. Exfoliate your skin while you shower. You don’t want to scrub away your skin but you will need to pay special attention to the elbows, knees, ankles, feet and neck areas. Steer sure of nylon or loofah scrubbers though as they are positive to cause streaking.
4. Deodorant and antiperspirants cause self tanning products to streak. The best thing to do is make sure you have the air conditioner running so that the room stays cool or rinse off in a cool shower before applying.
5. Wear gloves during the application. There really is no other way to avoid having orange palms. If you chose not to wear gloves makes sure you wash your hands every few minutes and scrub vigorously with a nail brush to help rid of the stain.
6. There are a couple of spruce tricks offered at sunless.com. One is to use a sponge paintbrush to apply the product. These are nifty little items usually found in any craft store or the paint department of Wal-mart. Simply spray the solution onto the sponge and rub on your body to eliminate streaks and other application mistakes. The other tip is to use a baby wipe. Rinse a couple out in the sink and hang to dry. When they are completely dry spray with self tanning lotion or foam and wipe your body with it. Continue to spray the wipe as needed when it begins to dry out again.
7. Never apply any sunless tanning product the same day as an planned event or evening out. You never know what kind of disasters may arise from your self tanning adventure and you don’t want to be caught in public with unnatural skin color.
8. The best time to try self tanning is during the late winter when you can cover any mistakes with lots of clothing. Be sure to try different brands to find the one that suits you best and when you do your test session avoid covering the facial area until you know exactly what the outcome will look like.
9. Unless you’re a contortionist applying the tanners to your back is quite difficult. One easy method is to purchase a foam paint roller with a long handle on it. Do not try to substitute the foam for another material as foam is the only kind that works with this method. Apply the product to the roller and roll up and down your wait on. If you’re too leery of attempting that simply employ the help of a friend or spouse.
10. The only way to enjoy your tan is to reapply the tanning solution every other day and moisturize on a daily basis. Your skin may dry out after repeated tannings so be sure to let the tan wear off completely after the third or fourth application.
If after all that, once you’ve scrubbed and moisturized you find that your tan has turned out very poor and you just want to get rid of it you still have way of getting it off. It does take work and could possibly make your skin sore, but there is a way.
The most natural way to remove it is to just let time pass. It will eventually fade and disappear somewhere around 10 days later. During these times I think its best if you try to stay at home and avoid human contact because yes, people will notice. It’s your choice though, if you’d rather just wait it out you can but don’t expect it to go unnoticed.
The other way to remove the sunless tanner is pretty simple. When it comes to the face and neck areas baking soda does the trick. First get your face wet and then massage baking soda into the skin in runt circles. Sometimes makeup remover will even pick a bad fake tan from your face. For the rest of your body dip a wash cloth in hydrogen peroxide and scrub away the tan. Do a test patch first to determine whether or not your skin will be irritated by it. You can also coat your body in baby oil and then take a shower using baking soda once again to scrub and exfoliate the tan away.
If after you gave all that a try and you find yourself stuck in the unfriendly shade of orange, perceive up it could be worst, you could be purple. If the tan refuses to come off then you might as well fair accept it because there’s nothing in the world except for time that’s going to pick up rid of it. Self tanning products like Coppertone, Banana Boat, Clinique and others are merely a stain. They do not dye your flesh or provide you with permanent results. There’s always a risk alive to and you never know what the results will be until you give it a try. Don’t deem the product by what you see on someone else’s skin, everyone’s self tanning adventure is different.
Many people don’t want to try self-tanners at home because they are scared of looking orange. Well a lot has changed since the unfounded orange tans of the ’90s. Now there are some great products and techniques you can consume to achieve a heavenly golden glow from home. I use these techniques at my salon and my clients love it!

1. Large Towels
2. Body Scrub—Coarse

3. 3. Now apply body scrub of your choice. Begin with the finer scrub first. Using your hands, apply the scrub starting at the back-top of the body. Be aware of sensitive areas. Exhaust circular smooth motions. You can always ask a friend of spouse to help you come difficult areas.

9. 9. Allow to dry before you get dressed. Do not wear superb clothes after because the color can transfer to clothing.
10. 10. The self-tanner will darken within 2 hours and not to shower within 7 hours. Some bronzer will come off when showering. That is normal. Now you have a beautiful glow without the damaging rays of the sun or a tanning bed.
Olay Total Effects products fight the seven signs of aging at a reasonable price. This is a guide to getting the best values on Total Effects products including Olay moisturizer.
Total Effects Daily Moisturizer: I do not spend a lot of time and money on skin care products but I need a daily moisturizer, and I use this one regularly. I was surprised to eye how many women follow the same logic with the website showing 57 reviews compared to 20 or less for other Total Effects products. It works well for my dry and sensitive skin without feeling greasy, and creates a perceptible glow. I find the pump dispenser wasteful so I use a wide mouth jar to believe excess globs. ($21.99 for 1.7 ounces) Total Effects products are sold at many stores including CVS, Target, Walgreens and Amazon. Daily Fragrance Free ($21.99 for 1.7 ounces) is a similar product, as is Total Effects + Touch of Sun ($22.99 for 1.7 ounces) which includes a sunless tanner. Total Effects UV Moisturizer +SPF15 ($22.99 for 1.7 ounces) and UV Moisturizer + Touch of Foundation ($21.99 for 1.7 ounces) are similar products with sunscreen included. I do not exercise the sunscreen versions because sunscreen should be applied lavishly in order to be effective, and many studies have shown that budget brands are just as effective. It’s much more affordable to mix my own sunscreen with Olay moisturizer.
Total Effects Eye Cream + Touch of Concealer: I use it on the occasional days when I want a concealer. It glides on and provides ideal coverage without defeating the purpose by looking too pale. ($19.99 for .5 ounces). Olay Behold Transforming Cream is a similar product. With regular use, it works great to reduce any puffiness around my eyes. ($22.99 for .5 ounces)
Total Effects Wet Cleansing Cloths: I like them for go and they don’t even require water. ($7.99 for 30 cloths) The Lathering Cleansing Cloths are a similar product. ($8.99 for 30)
Total Effects Revitalizing Foaming Cleanser($9.99 for 6.5 ounces) and Nourishing Cream Cleanser ($8.24 for 6.5 ounces): I’ve broken-down both when they’re on sale and find them effective even for removing makeup. They do not irritate my sensitive skin at all. Total Effects Cream Cleanser + Blemish Control is similar. ($7.99 for 5 ounces)
These Olay products are scheduled to become available in stores in February 2010: Total Effects Body Wash – Deep Penetrating Moisture, and Total Effects Body Wash – Exfoliate & Replenish.

If you are exploring indoor tanning tips, in comparison to outdoor tanning, both are analogous to how we obtain and use water — utility-supplied water vs. well water.
Indoor tanning is sunless, and the ultraviolet (UV) lights can be controlled, checked for quality, and is available when you need it, similar to utility water. Outdoor tanning using the sun is out of your control, can fluctuate in the quality of sunlight, and only available for about 12 hours, if that. Just as utility water enhances our ability to receive and exhaust water, indoor tanning can enhance your ability to get that perfect tanned body.
Safe Indoor Tanning Tips
1. The FDA studies the effects of indoor tanning and publishes results of its findings and recommendations. You should visit the FDA’s government website for your fill personal edification about indoor tanning.
2. You should pose questions to the tanning salon operator making determined she is aware of current laws and regulations.
3. As you prepare to use a tanning bed or facility, glance over the equipment to make sure operating and control panels are functioning properly.
4. Also ensure that protective accessories, such as eyewear, are old to prevent overexposure. Read tanning product labels, such as on lotions and ointments, to ensure they are not out-of-date or that they have not been discontinued or no longer found to be effective as a tanning product.
5. Besides thinking about management and control of the indoor tanning bed or facility, you should reflect the quality of the tanning process itself. Similar to avoiding staying out under the sun too long, you should closely monitor how long you employ under the sunless tanning bed lights to avoid skin wound.
6. Apply your tanning lotion evenly and liberally, allowing enough time for skin absorption, to prevent rubbing off or evaporation.
7. Some medications whisper not spending too much time out in the sun, because the intensity of the UV lights can have adverse effects if you are on some types of medication — sunless indoor tanning beds use the same type of UV light. Pay particular attention to blood pressure medications and antibiotics.
8. If you feel your body temperature rising faster than normal and extreme sweating occurs retract a break and assess the problem.
Keep in mind – similar to avoiding prolonged and frequent sun exposure, try not to make indoor tanning a habit – quality, not quantity.

Hopefully, you’ll never experience a self tanning disaster and need to remove your self tanner. You can reduce the changes of this happening by careful preparation before applying your self tanning product. Be sure to exfoliate and moisturize thoroughly several days prior to application of self tanner and apply the product slowly and methodically to prevent streaking and an uneven application.
If you do experience streaking and need to remove self tanner, there are several ways you can do this. If you have slight areas of streaking, the best way to remove these is to exfoliate thoroughly and repeatedly using a damp, nubby washcloth with a shrimp moisturizing or cleansing gel. You can also use an exfoliating pad or loofah brush, but this really isn’t necessary. I find the washcloth performs objective as well in most situations. Exfoliate the streaked areas repeatedly over several sessions, and you’ll gradually open to see the streaked areas lighten and then gradually disappear. If you applied the self tanning product to your knees, elbows, and ankles, you may find the self tanner has darkened those areas excessively. Use the same intention of repeated exfoliation to remove excess tanning product from these areas. You need to be a bit more aggressive with your exfoliation in these regions since they tend to have an excess of unimaginative skin cells that grab onto the self tanner.
Another trick for removing self tanner is to use a bit of baking soda applied to a damp cloth. Sprinkle baking soda onto a moist cloth and gently exfoliate your entire body to remove excess skin cells that have grabbed onto the tanning product. This is also a genuine design to exfoliate before applying your tanning product for the first time. If this map doesn’t work for you, there’s a product on the market called Flavours Freedom Sunless Eraser that’s made specifically for correcting uneven self tanner applications. You should be able to find this product online via a Google search.
If you apply too much of your self tanning product to one location during application, you can usually prevent the status from darkening excessively, by firmly rubbing the place with a nubby towel. You can then reapply the self tanner being careful to use a light hand.
Once you’ve corrected your self tanning problems, be sure to start a regular exfoliation and moisturizing program to prevent the future need to remove a self tanner. You may also want to reevaluate the type of self tanner you’re using since certain brands have more of a tendency to streak than others. I’ve success with the Loreal line of sublime bronze self tanners in both the lotion and gelee form. These products tend to give a rather dark color which may not be suitable for everyone.
By exfoliating properly and choosing the most appropriate self tanner for your skin type, you can experience a beautiful, steak proof tan that’ll show off that little red bikini you just bought!
Shadowy tanners have become very popular as the increased cancer risk with sun tanning grows. Sunless tanning products can last about a week and can include spray on tans and airbrush tans. Bronzers are another popular blueprint to get a healthy glow at a fraction of the price of an airbrush tan; however the results are not always as professional. This article will take a look at sunless tanners vs. bronzers, a review on each draw, and a general conclusion on which one is better overall.
Sunless Tanners
The best way to come by a sunless tan is by far an airbrush tan done by a professional as it provides a seamless tan which rivals a sun tan. Sunless tanners can also be done at home with spray on tans however they do not provide the same results as an airbrush tan, but can come close. Airbrush tans are done by professionals at spas or high end tanning booths; the spray dyes the outer layer of lifeless skin which causes a darker color. This plot of tanning is safe as it only colors dumb skin, the color lasts for about a week or until the dead skin falls off. Using products such as moisturizers can help keep the skin longer; however this method of tanning needs to be applied about every week to keep the glow. Airbrush tans sight natural due to a professional evenly covering the body with no missing parts; this tan method is one of the best sunless options on the market.
Bronzers
Bronzers come in a variety of application methods from creams to powders. Bronzers work by basically coloring the skin like a makeup would and if done properly would give a healthy glow. Bronzers are only as first-rate as the person applying them, and since they are often applied by the individual there are many chances for error. Using bronzers as a method of tanning can leave your hands with an orange glow and they can stain clothing, I would recommend using gloves and no clothing or throwaway clothing. www.dermadoctor.com offers a wide variety of higher waste of bronzers which all can be done from home. When using a bronzer on the face I would suggest using a powder since it will look more natural than a cream; also I would suggest using a lighter color first and going gradually darker or else it will look unnatural.
Conclusion:
Airbrush tanning offers a mighty more professional look than bronzers do since they are applied by professionals. Sunless tanning can reach in multiple varieties however using airbrush tanning, is, in my understanding the safest and most effective. Bronzers are large for do it yourself tans at home, but they can leave a dismal residue on your hands and clothing which is almost impossible to get off. Overall if you have the money I would suggest doing airbrush tanning since it requires little effort on your part; however bronzers can also be good if you are skilled with using them.
